THE YOUNG FELLOW IN THE FRONT ROW, THIRD FROM LEFT IS MY UNCLE, CHARLES GAUDETTE, WORLD WAR I PURPLE HEART VETERAN. LIKE ALL WAR HEROES, "UNC" NEVER TALKED ABOUT HIS WAR TIME HEROISM.

Tom, how apropos. I am writing my State Senators here in Nebraska, to stop making Veterans pay a fee to display a Purple Heart plate. One friend earned 3 Purple Hearts in Vietnam and won't display the plate he EARNED, because he won't pay the State fee. We'll see what happens. But it's disgraceful to make Veterans pay a fee to display a fee for something they earned with their blood, sweat and tears. Ron
